Eagle Viewing & River Cruise

The Chehalis River Hatchery enhances salmon stocks in the Chehalis and Harrison Rivers, supporting local fisheries. Enjoy a self-guided, 30-min tour of the hatchery, learning about various salmon species. The site is wheelchair accessible with ample parking and public washrooms are available near the entrance.

215 Kilby Rd, Harrison Mills

Admire the tall cottonwood trees where eagles love to perch and check the beach for spawning salmon. Start your walk at either the Kilby Historic Site or Kilby Park, strolling along the beach before going up onto the dyke. Follow to Lougheed Hwy, then loop back along School Rd to your starting point!

100 Esplanade Ave, Harrison Hot Springs

Starting at the Harrison Hot Springs Resort, head west toward the hot springs source to explore the interpretive signage and learn about the traditional territory of Sts’ailes. Continue onto the Sandy Cove & Whippoorwill Point Trail for stunning views of the Harrison River and Harrison Lake confluence.

Starting at the Sandpiper parking lot, follow the eagle signs across Elbow Creek to the eagle viewing gazebo. Watch for salmon in the creek and eagles in the trees.

16300 Morris Valley Rd, Harrison Mills

Immerse yourself in the deep-rooted heritage of the Sts’ailes culture and traditions along this scenic trail. Experience the area’s history come to life. The trailhead, marked by two large rocks, is just before the campground entrance. Please note: accessing the trail through the campground incurs a $10 fee.

Lougheed Hwy, Harrison Mills

Located near Lake Errock, the Sturgeon Trail winds through Sq’ewlets First Nation land to a scenic viewpoint overlooking Harrison Bay. With sweeping views and interpretive signage sharing stories of the land, this short hike offers a meaningful blend of Indigenous heritage, natural beauty, and wild adventure.

This 3-km channel supports up to 45,000 spawning sockeye, chum, and pink salmon, offering a stable flow of clean water to protect eggs and alevins from flooding and freezing. Please call before your visit to confirm opening hours.

How about a cedar barrel soak on your patio amidst our forest, watching bison roam from your private hot tub suite or taking in a barrel sauna steam before enjoying hot cocoa around a fire along Harrison Lake?

Protect
The Wild

While the migration of salmon and bald eagles creates an amazing natural phenomenon, it also creates a highly sensitive habitat. Please respect the wildlife when participating in any of our events or adventures.

Please stay off the Sts’ailes Flats
Kayaking or walking through the flats can disturb the resting eagles and pose a danger to salmon eggs. We request avoiding the flats throughout the entire season.

How to safely view the eagles
When you participate in a guided event, you will be taken to the best areas and walked through on our wildlife etiquette. If you self-explore, you will see the spawning salmon in tributaries and at Weaver Creek, along with the eagles along the trails, in the trees and along the shores. They are everywhere!

The Harrison River Valley lies within the traditional, ancestral and shared territories of the Leq’á:mel, Samahquam, Skatin (SkookumChuck), Sts’ailes, Sq’ewá:lxw (Skawahlook), Sq’éwqel (Seabird Island), Sq’ewlets, Xa’xtsa (Douglas), and Xwchíyò:m (Cheam) First Nations.

We are all stewards of this sacred land, and it is our responsibility to protect and care for it. All living beings are interconnected, and harm to one affects the well-being of all.
